Her leaves actually make for a decent alternative to wool, actually. I've been able to patch up my shirt with them.

I grew up during the Depression; I'm pretty used to helping other people out. It was needed, in those days.

"The Depression." That doesn't sound great. I know what you mean about needing to hang together, though. It's definitely a thing we needed to do during the Great War.

It was a time when nobody had any money, and they had to ration all of the food. It wasn't great, so people tried to help each other out.

Sounds like it was tough. But I can understand why that would make you a little more willing to help out.

People lookin' out for each other... it's a good thing, even around here. Probably especially around here, given how hard it can be to find things.
